My Sweet Tooth at Sweetmates

Do you have a sweet tooth craving for sweets? Well we're just the same. Ever since I was a kid, and I bet you were too, I was so fond of sweets be it cakes, ice cream or chocolates! And even until now that I'm a grown up, I still search and reach any that is sugary, honey and pleasant sweet tasting edible material.

Good thing I'm a member of the Cordillera Bloggers and we had a blogger's night in a sweet and luscious cake shop in Baguio called Sweetmates.  

Sweetmates is a cake and coffee shop that offers a variety of mouth watering cakes and pastries and sacchariferous cold and hot drinks. Sweetmates as described by the owner is 

"A place for people craving to have good coffee and cakes plus enormous fun and memories with your friends and love ones...For chilling out or having a meeting.."

It is located at Legarda Road, Baguio City near Pines View Hotel. It is not a spacious restaurant or something that you would expect but rather just a one room roofed cake shop with a counter and display inside and  a couple of table sets. Outside is a garden with umbrella table sets that can accommodate 4 couples. It also has a mini parking space in front.

I wish it was daylight when we got there so I could have appreciated the ambiance of the garden outside which I bet would have been beautiful. I love plants. I love green and anything that is fresh. Too bad it was a blogger's NIGHT it was dark and our lights were only candles, which I think was romantic though.

Our group placed our orders with different kinds and flavors so we would be able to try and see most of the shop's specialties. 

I am a sweet food lover so I got the Pastillas Cheesecake because it is a combination of two of my favourite pastillas and cheesecake. Surprisingly, Sweetmates servings are large and served in a regular square plate unlike the regular cakes that you get in small plates. Actually, I wasn't able to finish mine because I was already full I had to take it out. The cheesecake is incredibly thick and tall as you can see from the photo below. The crust is like sugary toasted bread crumbs. Then on top is a sweet icing and a bar of pastillas with caramel on the tip. Everything was sweet! I think it is too sweet to my taste. I was expecting of something like a combination of a sweet filling and a non-sweet crust perhaps something that would balance the sweetness. However, if you are one person who craves for nothing but sweetness, you gotta try this!!! They have also other cakes recipes from Chocolate to coffee to butterscotch to oreo to tiramisu and many more! Pick your choice.

As for the drink, I got the Tiramisu Java Chill. Again, unexpectedly, it was served in a tall glass! Surely, all customers who come in this shop are satisfied and well fed. ha ha! This too as expected, is sweet and I can still feel and taste the sugar crystal. It was a choco coffee tiramisu flavored shake with whipped cream on top and dazzled with choco powder. This would be refreshing drink after you stayed all day under the hot sun.

Do you know that this is where I saw and tasted the biggest cream puff I've seen in my life? Don't be fooled but the size of that  cream puff in the photo is even bigger than the mouth of a coffee mug. The cream inside is generous and the top is drizzled with caramel. Yummy! This wasn't my order but my friend's and yeah, I had a taste of it.

We enjoyed and we were all tummy satisfied that night with all the sweetness we got from Sweetmates . 

And oh, did you know that many people confessed their love in this shop? Because of the sweetness of the food and the romantic ambiance, many guys have made marriage and couple proposals here! Isn't that sweet?
