Makeup Academy for sure is a best selling makeup brand. With their quality makeups' price range of GBP1 and up, more so they keep adding new items every now then, no doubt people craze with each of their must have makeup product. One of their super affordable cosmetic item is their 1 pound lipsticks. I have purchased about 8 of them and read on below to see what I have and what I think about them.
Muastore.co.uk on their GBP1 Lipsticks:
Girls, there is nothing better than lipstick. Apart from maybe lipstick that costs just £1! Ok definitely lipstick that costs just £1. Don't say we're not good to you. Our amazing lipsticks come in 16 shades from red to pink and nude and are packed full of pigmentation. With just one swipe you'll have fantastic colour pay off resulting in gorgeous lips! Why not pick a shade you've not tried before and get a new look? It is just £1 after all...did we already mention that?
Each lipstick is 3.8 grams contained in glossy black tubes. and on the bottom are clear lids which show the shade of the lipstick. Also, surprisingly, it contains real lipstick inside! Unlike the NYX Round Lipsticks which contains plastic rubber.
Here are the shades I got. From left: Shade 4, shade 15 Juicy, shade 14 Bare, shade 7, shade 3, shade 13, shade 1 and shade 8. Sadly their lipstick names are in 'shade #s', they have not given each a unique name on most except for the latest shades they released.
Swatches of each.
Now each of the lipstick shades on actual lips.
Shade 4 is a sheer almost opaque glossy type of shade. The bullet appears like a baby pink color. I don't really like as its not that pigmented and you have to build layers to get a color.
Shade 15 Juicy is a nudy peachy pink corally shade.
Shade 14 Bare is a melony coral shade.
Shade 7 is a shimmery frosty shade and appears a little opaque when applied.
Shade 3 is a hot pink with a blue undertone.
Shade 13 is a bright orange red color.
Shade 1 is a deep sheen red.
Shade 8 is a brick red with golden shimmery fine specks.
Among the shades, I love the hot pink one which is Shade 3. I love pink and I always will. This shade is pigmented with just one swipe. Next shades I like are the red ones, Shade 13, 1 and 8. Shade 8 I think will look best on mature women and those with deeper skin tones. Shades 15 and 14 are good nude shade that can be for daytime use. I don't like Shade 7 because I am not a frost shimmery type of girl. I prefer matte and sheen ones. I think Shade 4 is terrible. It's like a colorless lip balm when applied and you have to do it in layers to get a color. Most of the shades I got are soft and creamy. Shade 4 is a little greasy to me. Shade 15 and 14 may look flaky on dry chappy lips.
