Cambodia is among the top destination of tourists in South East Asia. It's main attraction is the Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. We had a chance to visit this ancient place even for just half a day. Read on how our trip went...

We accompanied a friend, who was going home to the Philippines, to Siem Reap where her flight was departing from. A one way mini van ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap costs 10$ and the trip took 6-7 hours. We departed on a Saturday afternoon and got to Siem Reap at night. Surprisingly, Siem Reap is so so so cold and it was like 16 degrees celsius that night! It was freaking cold and it reminded me of my hometown back home.

Upon arrival at the bus station in Siem Reap, we were surprised a tuktuk (motor driven cart) was waiting for us with the driver holding up a paper with my name on it. Which is normal because the ticketing office we booked our trip with set it up. Given only a short weekend to be there, we just dropped into the Mekong Angkor Hotel to leave our stuff then rushed out for the night life.

The next morning, we went to visit two of the many most visited temples. As we only had a half day to spend before travelling back to Phnom Penh, we got up early and headed on to Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is minutes away from our hotel and first thing to do is to get an ID card which costs for 20$ for a day trip. Of course, the famous Angkor Wat is the first destination of the two.

It was a Sunday and there were a lot of tourists, foreigners and people around. It was quite difficult to get a good solo photo with all the people around. But we still managed.

On the broad entrance of the temple is this long and wide bridge that crosses the river.

Be careful not to go too near the edge as there's no protective fences.

Inside the temple is like another large and wide garden with another temple inside as you can see below. We didn't go near this large structure as we were racing with time. We just feasted our eyes on it and took photos with it.

After a few shots and minutes of walking of around, we moved on to our next destination. Along the way, we passed through this fantastic and beautiful road. It was so refreshing, fresh and natural. The trees are tall, green and invited the breeze to dance around. We asked the tuktuk driver to stop so we can sense and feel it's beauty and freshness.

Also, on the way to the Queen's palace, we passed by another ancient structure. Again, we didn't stop anymore.  The ancient structures were massive, exquisite and just wow! How amazing were the people who built this before. Thinking how were they able to do it without the high technology of machine and heavy equipment.

Of course, a trip would never be complete without shopping souvenirs. Here we stopped on some small stalls and bought some Indo China designed scarves, dresses and pants. If you want to save, purchase from the Night Market instead. It's cheaper there and you can bargain with the sellers. Here in these cozy huts, the items are a couple to 3 dollars more expensive.

And we did more quick poses and shoots near the Queen's palace. Sorry not much photo of the next temple. We didn't also made it to the Tomb Raider site.. Tsk tsk tsk.

I will certtainly go back to Siem Reap and and get to see all the must see sites and destinations. I will plan out a better trip so I can enjoy and savor every moment of my travel there. We only had a limited time so we only went to a few places and didn't feel and sense every sight.
