We arrived all sweaty, haggard and low but as soon we spotted the restaurant and caught sight of the cozy and warm ambiance, our brain activated our adrenaline glands and pumped us with energy |
Included in our Siem Reap
adventure itenirary, yours truly and Dean of Watwatworld had the chance to take
delight in their surely delectable menu.
Tired and exhausted from
his Thailand trip, we fetched Dean from his hotel then
we went to a couple of tourist spots in Siem Reap before having our most awaited time of the day, a sumptuous dinner. We arrived all sweaty, haggard and low but as soon we spotted the restaurant and caught sight of the cozy and warm ambiance, our brain activated our adrenaline glands and pumped us with energy.

The Embassy is a two floor
building with a wooden and concrete structure. Upon arrival, it will greet you
with both a fresh and cool atmosphere with all the green plants around it. Yet
when you get inside, it gives you a sense of home, coziness and warmth with the
dim, ambient and relaxing lights and homelike interior.
The first floor is open with round comfy chairs suited for chilling and drinking during happy hours. The second floor is where lavish banqueting happens which can accommodate 35 “ambassadors”. The tables are extensively set up. A romantic white chandelier dangles above. A huge painting and a round mirror accents the walls. Polite and well trained attendants will approach and greet you to take your orders.

Banquet Fit for Diplomats
The Embassy’s menu is
composed of 5-6 sets appetizing menu, which changes every season. Each set in the
menu can be paired with their selection of satisfying wine.
We started our exceptional
meal with Marinated Fresh Oyster served on Coriander Sauce. Appetizer came next
which was local “Snake Zuchini” stuffing with minced seafood, topped with Khmer
herbs. Boiled rice soup with pork ball and fresh herbs was served next. There
were two main courses. First was the Khmer red curry scallops, served with rice
noodles and country vegetables. Second was the traditional pork caramel, cooked with green Kampot pepper, bamboo shoot and tiger potato, served with rice “basket ball”. The set was of course ended by everybody’s favorite part of the meal,
the dessert. We had Crispy Banana topped with coconut and chili ice cream, milk
fruit and orange sauce. Each set was
served with a glass of wine.

What
I have to Say
We enjoyed our lovely feast
so much that it took us 3 hours from start to finish. Ha ha! Of course, because
it was accompanied with wonderful stories and random chit chats.
I can’t tell which part of
the menu is my favorite because, I love them all. The starter is not common to
me as I rarely eat raw seafood. It was challenging though the combination of
the fresh oysters with the sauce was superb. I am not a fan of zucchini but stuffing
it with minced seafood made it so palatable. I love love the soup. I really
love soup dishes as they’re less oily compared to fried food. The soup is
served with a lavender flower. One may think it’s just for garnish but hey,
that’s edible. I did eat mine.
The first main course is very Cambodian. I love curry dishes and this was exceptional because instead of rice, we ate it with rice noodles. Super yum! I already felt full with the first main course but there was a second, a traditional pork meal with rice. The presentation is so unique the rice was wrapped in a woven banana leaf. I was already so full but we had to have one last set. The chili ice cream wasn't really spicy despite its name. It was sweet actually just like how ice creams are but, the scent of chili was there.

And oops, staff service was definitely pleasant as well. The waitresses are warmly polite. After serving, they give a brief description of what you are about to indulge in.
